After more than 20 years of dealing with ever changing data acquisition software and protocols I thought it would be a good idea to create a protocol which is based on robust standards like XML and TCP/IP, that is flexible and extensible, easy to grasp and free for use to everyone.
Additionally it should provide basic access control and data security without requirements to third party or cloud solutions.

Here you can find the description of the Tag Socket Protocol

Later on you will find here some sample code in Java that implements the protocol.
A server and a client written in Java (Open JDK + JavaFX) using this protocol's predecessor (version 1.5) are already in productive use since 2022.
The grandfather application of the current version (Java + Swing) is in productive use since 2004

In order to make the access via Internet easier by using a standardized port which will allow firewalls to be easily configured, we will apply for an official network port at Iana.
